A Conversation With Grumpy

On September 10th, the shocking assassination of Charlie Kirk left many of us stunned — not only by the act itself, but by the disturbing celebration of his death by some. This tragedy shines a harsh light on the power of destructive ideologies — what Professor Gad Saad calls “parasitic ideas” in his book The Parasitic Mind: How Infectious Ideas Are Killing Common Sense.
In this episode, I reflect on the grief and shock of this moment, and explore how these parasitic ideas have infected politics, academia, identity movements, and even religion throughout history — always leading to dehumanization and violence.
But this isn’t only a warning. With the help of Eckhart Tolle’s A New Earth, we’ll also look at the possibility of transformation. Tolle reminds us that the real battle is within: between the ego’s need for division and the awakening of human consciousness.
We stand at a crossroads. Will we continue down the path of hate and ideology, or will we choose awareness, compassion, and common sense?
This is not an easy conversation, but it may be one of the most important ones we’ll have.
