Trump Looking to COOK at SCOTUS & Fire Federal Reserve!

The Trump administration has just filed its legal argument with the US Supreme Court in its ongoing effort to fire Federal Reserve Governor Lisa Cook for cause. The cause? There’s credible—really incontrovertible—evidence that Cook engaged in mortgage fraud by simultaneously claiming two properties as her primary residence, both in a two week period, with the two properties being in two entirely separate states.

The fraud? Claiming a property as a primary residence allows for lower mortgage and insurance rates, fraudulently secured if the property is not actually one’s primary residence. And this fraud continues for the duration of the mortgage, with every payment made, so it’s ongoing transgression.

When this fraud was revealed, Trump informed Cook that she was fired—one can hardly have a mortgage fraudster in a position of authority of the Federal Reserve, which sets mortgage rates. She responded by suing in federal court to have the Federal Reserve prohibited from acting on her firing and thus leaving her in her position.

Just this past Monday Trump took a loss in the DC Circuit Court of Appeals when a three-judge panel in a 2-1 vote—notably a Biden and Obama judge against a Trump judge—voted that Trump lacked the authority to fire Cook. Their rationale was quite idiotic—for example, that the fraud occurred prior to Cook’s appointment, and so could not qualify as cause, and also that Cook had a property right in her position and therefore was entitled to a level of due process that Trump had not provided.

The dissenting Trump judge, Judge Katsas, laid out in detail the roadmap I expect Trump is now using in his appeal to the Supreme Court, and I expect that’s exactly what we’ll see as we breakdown this Trump filing with SCOTUS.
