Well, in Queensland, the humble fruit proved priceless as the new Monarch mango was crowned champion at an annual fundraising auction.

Chris Frame of The Standard Market secured the royal title with a stunning $66,000 bid for the first symbolic mango tray of the season in Brisbane this morning.

The annual event, which has been running for more than two decades, celebrates the start of the mango season by auctioning off the first tray of mangoes, with the highest bidder being crowned

2025 Mango Monarch 000.
