Hudson Valley, NY - New York State Troopers in the Hudson Valley are being hailed for their heroic response to a crash that left a driver trapped inside their fiery vehicle.

The single-vehicle crash, which authorities say was believed to be caused by the driver hitting a deer on the parkway, could have had a much more tragic ending without the quick-thinking of the officers.

In the shared video, police arrive to the crash scene to find a Subaru Crosstrek already partially engulfed in flames. As police open the driver's door, he can be heard exclaiming about a leg injury as officers attempt to remove him from the burning vehicle.

"[Troopers] responded to a one-car crash near Exit 12 in the Town of Ramapo... Without hesitation, the Troopers pulled the driver to safety and re-entered the danger zone to make sure no one else was inside. Seconds later, the vehicle was fully engulfed", began the caption of the recent video on social media (below).

The Palisades Parkway, a popular route for Hudson Valley residents to take to and from New York City, passes through Rockland County before entering New Jersey. While the parkway is a high-traffic, multi-lane road, its rural setting unfortunately makes it a popular location for deer as well as vehicles.
