Big Block Modifieds at Baxterville

A National career race at Baxterville Speedway on Expert difficulty. The track surface is mostly smooth with a few bumps on the very bottom of the track. The track has decent room for maneuverability around traffic. The track does get slick below the cushion after Practice and progressively gets far worse. Expect a full second drop in lap times by the end of the night. I find the bottom fastest through Qualifying. For the Heats both top and bottom seem close, then transitioning to the top for the remainder of the event. You need to hit your marks for both the top and bottom, or you will lose quite a bit of momentum. Exiting on the top of 4 can be tricky as there isn't much traction and will push towards the wall. I did find entering on the cushion and diving to at least the middle of the exit fastest.

A very good Showcase event with 2 cautions in the first 16 laps. The first caution came when Daniel Johnson made contact with Paul St. Sauveur, with Johnson spinning and going head first into the wall. The 2nd caution came when Sauveur got into Alex Payne, with both spinning out. The remainder of the race went caution free. Great traffic navigation this race with only getting into 1 car while lapping them. Got into the wall a few times as well due to over-driving the car a little and not exiting out of 4 right to avoid the slick spot. Overall though the race was very good with plenty of fast paced action.
