Mathura, Uttar Pradesh: A 27-year-old man, Suneet alias Gatua from Nagla Hardayal village, was arrested after posting a viral video on social media threatening to kill UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. In the video, uploaded on 19 September, Suneet held a country-made pistol to his head, claiming he would shoot the CM by 25 September before turning the gun on himself.

Police traced Suneet to his residence, where he climbed to the terrace with the pistol, fired shots in the air, and threatened self-harm, leading to a tense two-hour standoff. Authorities eventually apprehended him and recovered a .32-bore country-made pistol and live cartridges.

The accused reportedly acted out of frustration over inaction on a prior complaint against his uncle regarding a land dispute. Police indicated that Suneet is a habitual drinker and may have been under the influence, though toxicology reports are pending. Local residents noted signs of mental stress and erratic behavior in recent months.

An FIR has been registered at Mant police station under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for criminal intimidation, illegal possession of arms, and attempt to incite violence. Investigations are ongoing to determine how Suneet obtained the firearm and whether any substances influenced his actions.

The case drew significant attention due to the direct death threat to a sitting Chief Minister and the dramatic standoff that unfolded publicly.
