Dr Umar Johnson The lies & Receipts #drumarjohnson

Dr Umar Johnson has long promised to build a Pan-African, culturally-centered school for Black boys (FDMG Academy), first publicly announcing plans around 2014

He raised funds, bought a building (or claimed to) in Wilmington, Delaware
Problems and Why It Didn’t Get Going

Financial shortfalls / funding issues

Though substantial donations have been collected, there have been frequent statements that more money is needed for critical work — plumbing, electric, HVAC, etc.

Some of the money-related problems include unpaid utility bills, unpaid “vacant property registration” fees, which have accumulated over years

Delays and unmet milestones
The building was bought (or claimed to have been bought), but the school still hasn’t opened, even years later. No students, no faculty operating, no fully functioning school.
He has cited needing pro bono help from contractors (electricians, plumbers, etc.) to finish work, but reports suggest many of these offers didn’t materialize (or weren’t accepted), so he still needed large sums to pay market rates.

Administrative & regulatory difficulties

The property has been declared “vacant” and charged fees for that, which can carry penalties; Johnson claims the city increased fees significantly.

There are claims the city posted auction or sheriff’s sale notices rather than sending direct communications.
Transparency and trust concerns
Many critics and some investigative articles question where all the funds have gone. There is still little evidence (photos, public records) showing the completed school operating with staff, students, etc.
