Absolum - Overview Trailer

Absolum is a 2D beat ‘em up from Dotemu set in the fantasy world of Talamh. Play as your choice of four different characters, each with their own move and feature set as they try to overthrow the tyrannical Sun King and restore magic to the land. Take different paths, encounter different bosses on repeated playthroughs, receive upgrades and power-ups from NPCs, and even hire mercenaries to help you on your journey. You can play solo or in co-op/online multiplayer. When you die, you’re resurrected and continue your journey with your acquired abilities and upgrades intact.

Developer and publisher Dotemu has had a hand in some very solid recent 2D offerings with fantastic animation, including Streets of Rage 4 and NINJA GAIDEN: Ragebound. Absolum seems to be continuing that tradition. The soundtrack is being composed by Gareth Coker who worked on Ori and the Blind Forest and Halo Infinite, with offerings also from Mick Gordon from the DOOM series and Yuka Kitamura from Dark Souls and Elden Ring.

Absolum releases for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC on October 9, 2025.
