Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate is the reboot of the Japanese game Monster Hunter Tri. In Monster Hunter Tri, the players enter a deserted island after an earthquake supposedly caused by a monster. On the island, they are sent to slay monsters as well as scavenge for herbs, honey, seeds, mushrooms and ore.
Players are completing quests for an organization named "The Guild". Each assigned quest brings them closer to an "Urgent Quest", a quest that will allow, when completed, to move onto the next tier of quests. Players prepare for hunts by gathering herbs, honey, and other items in the single player mode, where they then use these items for a competitive advantage in the online multiplayer mode where they team up with up to four other players to defeat monsters. Defeating monsters can be done in three ways: killing, capturing or causing them to flee.
The game features a single-player offline mode and a multiplayer online mode.

Gameplay-wise, the game is very similar to the original Mighty Switch Force!, a puzzle-platformer-shooter where the player must maneuver through the level, shooting down enemies and switching blocks in and out of the level. But this time, Patty Wagon's armed with a fire hose and must rescue the now reformed Hooligan Sisters instead of arresting them, along with putting out fires. Fire is everywhere, not only making it time consuming to put it out, but potentially hurting Officer Wagon. New gameplay mechanics are new types of blocks, such as mud blocks that can be dissolved with water and pipe blocks that redirect the water stream, and the mission of seeking out the lost USBs (Ugly Secret Babies) hidden in each level. As in the first game, each incident has a target clear time.

In this world, death is no longer final. Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Tipping Stars is a 2D puzzle game starring Mario and Donkey Kong. The monkey still likes to kidnap and the player has to complete levels helping Minis, wind-up toy versions of Mario and other characters, while solving puzzles. They walk by themselves and need to be guided to an exit. The player interferes by using touch on the GamePad to manipulate the environment. This is done by leading enemies away, covering traps, building or removing girders and adding or removing springs. Some levels have a character that needs to be freed and guided to safety. The gameplay maintains the traditional elements of previous Mario Kart games, mostly from the two recent installments on the Wii and 3DS respectively. Karts can be customized once again, alongside the returning bikes, which handle similar to the karts now, and the newly introduced buggies. The hang-glider and underwater mechanics also return, as well as Coins, with the player being able to collect up to ten in one race as in Mario Kart 7.
The newest feature for the series is anti-gravitational segments, that not only allow for more dynamic track design, but also for racers to drive across walls and ceilings. When in anti-gravity, if a racer bumps into another racer, the kart spins rather than just bumping and both racers receive a speed boost. Courses from previous Mario Kart games will be included, and both the game's anti-gravity mechanic, as well as Mario Kart 7 's "air, land, and sea" mechanic will be incorporated.

Knytt Underground is a side-scrolling exploration platformer with a simple basic goal: the world is about to die and so the protagonist Mi has to ring the six fate bells. Since Mi is mute, she quickly gains two fairy followers which do the talking for her. Those have different personalities and in some conversations she can choose which one should talk.
The game is divided into three distinctive chapters which can be played in any order. The first two are relatively linear sections which introduce the the two main characters Mi and a rubber ball. In the third chapter the two characters merge and Mi can transform to the ball at any time - with the abilities of both characters at hand, the player can now explore the world freely. Since this is no metroidvania game, there are no additional powers and items to find, but of course there are still obstacles to overcome in order to open up more paths: NPC quests, platforming and puzzles.

The sweat mode from the previous game that counts calories has been developed into a fitness-like program with a different focus for each routine and they can last up to 40 minutes. While there are some enemies to fight, the focus is on puzzle solving, mostly Sokoban-style sliding puzzles. In How to Survive, the player character is stranded on a zombie-infested island. During the course of the game, the character will visit four islands while trying to survive. The islands are not completely abandoned as there are a few people to meet which provide main and side quests to solve.
In its core, this is an isometric shooter. However, besides the action there is also a survival element involved: the character has watch thirst, hunger and exhaustion and battle it by eating, drinking and sleeping. Thankfully the backdrop is a tropical island which means the basic means to survive are relatively easy to find.
This is accompanied by a crafting system which allows to combine pretty much everything for useful stuff. Solving quests and killing enemies gives experience points which eventually lead to a level up. Then one of the character's skill trees can be improved - what skills are available depends on the used character.

Dr. Luigi is the sixth installment in the Dr. Mario series. The game was released exclusively for Nintendo eShop on Wii U as part of the Year of Luigi.
The gameplay is very similar to the original Dr. Mario game. Players must eliminate viruses by stacking Megavitamins on them by ultimately creating a row of four or more of the same color. In this game, however, there is a new game mode named Operation L, which involves stacking multicolored L-shaped pills in reference to Luigi.
Combos are altered in this game. In Dr. Mario, when a player gains a combo, the opponent will receive two half-Megavitamins to stall progress. In Operation L, when a player gains a combo, the opposing player's upcoming Megavitamin will have its colors switched.
Like Dr. Mario Online Rx, if the player completes the 20th level with the high speed in every mode (except multiplayer) the credits will roll.

The gameplay with its third-person hack-and-slash is similar to the first game. The environments consists of large open world areas where dungeons lead to new locations. Next to the action there are also still many environment-based puzzles that require the manipulation of levers, tiles, pressure plates, doors and portals to progress. Compared to War in the first game, Death is much more agile and can perform acrobatic moves.

Batman: Arkham Origins is a prequel to Batman: Arkham Asylum and is set about one year after Bruce Wayne became Batman. The main villain is the drug lord Black Mask who assigns eight powerful villains to assassinate Batman once and for all. It is long before Arkham City was established and therefore Batman can explore the whole city.
The basic gameplay is unchanged to Arkham City. Batman still slides through the open city and visits more linear locations in plot missions. The fights use the series' trademark freeflow system. An important part of these fights is to react to the enemies. When said enemies have firearms, melee fights are out of the question and Batman has to use stealth.
Besides fighting even more enemies, there are side quests to solve, like stopping the sniper Deadbeat or solving the Enigma puzzles. The crime scene investigations with detective view were expanded and involve short videos which can be searched for clues.

Backtracking is needed for optionally completing the game entirely, but most of the weapons that are needed to finish the game can be found in a linear playthrough.

Armillo generally moves fast in the form of a ball and has a few special abilities which are usually used to break through certain walls or get rid of enemies. The levels are built as a labyrinth of narrow one-way corridors with some junctions. Of course they are feature a number of obstacles such as arrows which fling Armillo into a direction, slippery ice surfaces, endless pits or boss fights. Each level also has a parallel universe which is a accessed by finding teleport stations. Armillo can only survive a limited time in there and the gameplay adds basic switch puzzles.

After 72 hours the mothership returns to pick up the ship and bring it home. Something goes wrong however and the ship ends up in a dark underground as the mothership crashed. The goal of the game is to explore the environment and find a way back home through a communication pod to send a distress signal.
The game uses a large number of Wii U specific features. The GamePad is used to control the ship's computer instruments. Using touch screen controls the player has to manage thrust, weight, gravity, stabilization and other elements that become available gradually.

The second installment of the escape adventure ‘The Escape Room’ arrives on Wii U. The protagonist wakes up on a subway bench, having lost all memory. Who are you? Guided by the mysterious woman Kay, you become entangled in a shadowy organization's conspiracy.
The story changes based on your escape route! Multi-escape routes and multiple endings push the thrill of escape to the limit. Various locked rooms appear throughout the unfolding story. A total of 19 puzzles await, far exceeding the previous game.
Furthermore, it's not just for solo play. Connect a Wii Remote Plus to bring up a second cursor, allowing two players to explore together. You can also access Miiverse from within the game to share strategy information with other players, making it enjoyable even for those who struggle with puzzles.

Axiom Verge is a 2D metroidvania platform shooter centered around the protagonist Trace, a scientist who, after an experiment gone wrong, finds himself on the world of Sudra. By the time Trace arrives on Sudra he finds this world and his civilization collapsed due to the release of the "Pathogen". With help of the Russalki, Trace has to fight back the invading forces and return back across The Breach to Earth.
The world of Sudra is an open world in which Trace can travel back and forth, but needs access to better gear and weapons to keep progressing. Several areas can be travelled to by means of opening up pathways with the items Trace can find along the way. Such items include for instance the Modified Labcoat, Grapple, Laser Drill, Address Disruptor and Remote Drone. Some weapons can be used to open secret paths. None of the available energy based weapons consume ammo. Upgrades for health and weapons can also be found while exploring every nook and cranny. Backtracking is needed for optionally completing the game entirely, but most of the weapons that are needed to finish the game can be found in a linear playthrough.
