Isaiah - Chapters 40-42

The book of Isaiah is traditionally attributed to the prophet Isaiah, who lived during the 8th century BC, around 740 BC, according to the superscription of the book which identifies him as the son of Amoz. Isaiah ben Amoz lived in the Kingdom of Judah during the reigns of four kings from the mid to late 8th-century BC. Isaiah was one of the major prophets of ancient Israel. Isaiah is Hebrew for "God is salvation." Isaiah is one of the longest prophetic books (66 chapters).
