Note: New missing episode not on Larry Koehn's site.
Gene Siskel and Roger Ebert reviews "Born Yesterday" (That quote alone Gene said sums up yesterday and today's unnecessary remakes and Roger was wrong about the original where the scene of Broderick Crawford and Judy Holiday in their roles as Harry Brock and Emma "Billie" Dawn. He did slapped her and argue. Maybe he sped-up the Laserdisc player too fast and forgot to go back. Anyway, I thought it was a lousy comedy remake despite of the three talented leads, Melanie Griffith, Don Johnson (who were a real-life couple at the time) and John Goodman. "Hello, Am I in the Room?" I'll stick to the original 1950 classic with William Holden who also stars. At least, "Sabrina" (1995) got it right!); "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles III" (The last of the live-action New Line Cinema/Golden Harvest trilogy of the 90s based on the Mirage Studios comics By: Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird. This time, "Jim Henson's Creature Shop" no longer provide the animatronics and was given a makeover for "The Effects Company", the same team that did the "Short Circuit" film with Johnny 5 robot. And the Turtles traveled through time with a interceptor that sent April O'Neal to ancient Japan. While most people claim it was the worst of the trilogy (*cough* AVGN *cough*), I thought it was a decent one maybe because I love time-travel stories, the story about warriors in Japan was interesting, April rips her dress and shows her legs and Corey Feldman reprised his role as Donatello from the first film. Not to mention, Balimora's Tarzan's Boy song! But as usual, Siskel & Ebert panned it just like the first two which I clearly disagreed strongly!); "Married to It" (Like most of the film's catalog, Orion Pictures during its post-bankruptcy era had this romantic comedy sat on the shelf for about a year and a half. But it did got a theatrical release in Canada on September 11, 1991. I still remember seeing the poster of this film in theatres that year with the cast's behind. Directed By: Arthur Hiller. Starring: Cybil Shepherd, Ron Silver, Mary Stuart Masterson, Robert Sean Leonard, Beau Bridges and Stockard Channing. They're right, It's sort of a "Parenthood" type story but it was decent.) and "Like Water for Chocolate" (One of the highest-grossing independent films of the era on a Mexican romantic drama about a young woman, Tita who has a magical passion of cooking and while taking care of her mother, she is forbidden to find her true love, Pedro who ends up marries her older sister but still loves Tita. A wonderful romantic sexual fantasy based on the Novel By: Laura Esquivel!)
A "Special Report" on the current situations of Women's roles in Hollywood not getting any credit and the dominance of them all with an interview of actress, Jodie Foster after winning two-time Academy Awards for her performances.
"Laserdisc Pick of the Month": Siskel's pick is Martha Coolidge's "Rambling Rose" (1991). Starring: Laura Dern, Diane Ladd, Robert Duvall and Lucas Haas. ($400 would have been good but it's still too expensive for a Laserdisc player!) And a recap of Today's program! (Next Week would be the start of the biggest and funniest debate on the entire show! "Cop and a Half!")
Recorded on KATU ABC 2 in Portland, Oregon with Commercials intact.
