Devastating rail campaign_ Ukraine targets Russia’s logistical backbone and core supply arteries

The Ukrainians have launched a devastating rail campaign that has systematically attacked Russia’s main supply lines in several regions.
By disrupting or completely halting the flow of troops, the Ukrainians have cut the veins that support Russia’s war effort, according to Euromaidan Press.
Three Russian National Guard officers were recently killed in a mine explosion under a railway line in the Oryol region. The explosion halted service to Kursk and delayed more than 15 trains, a direct hit on one of the main supply corridors for Russian troops along the Kharkiv and Sumy regions.
A sabotage attack in the Leningrad region caused a locomotive carrying 15 fuel trucks to derail. Rail traffic in both directions was halted, and the train’s driver was killed.
In Tver, Ukrainian military intelligence conducted a high-precision operation. According to Euromaidan Press, they planted explosives under parked fuel cars and remotely detonated them at the main junction.
Further south, Ukrainian special operations forces confirmed a successful strike on a fuel train at Dzhankoy station in Crimea, disrupting supplies to Russia’s southern group of forces.
And in a particularly brutal sequence near Ostrakivka in Zaporizhia region, Ukrainian forces blew up a railway track, derailed a freight train, and then used FPV drones to set fire to a spillway.
Ukrainian forces also participated in the operation of the train, but they did not have enough fuel.
These are not isolated incidents. They are the sharp edge of a campaign aimed at making Russian rail logistics nearly impossible, Euromaidan Press reports.
The pace and precision of the campaign are accelerating as Ukraine now strikes deeper, more frequently, and with a broader array of tools, including rail bombs, FPVs, sabotage units, and coordinated drone raids.
This reflects not only Ukrainian innovation but also a strategic plan outlined months ago in reports that have been echoed by Russian analysts.
The railways are Russia’s logistical backbone, as nearly all heavy equipment, fuel, and personnel destined for Ukraine pass through a few bottlenecks, bridges, traction substations, and switches.
Suppose two or three such failures occur simultaneously, in which case reserves are stranded, rotations are missed, and the continuous offensive pressure is disrupted, allowing Ukrainian soldiers on the front lines to more easily deal with fragmented offensives.
In addition to the headline strikes, the rest of the home front is also under strain, as three more carriages derailed in the Leningrad region and in the Komninsk district, partisans set fire to a locomotive at a station, Euromaidan Press reports.
Drone attacks damaged relay cabinets at Arkheda station in Volgograd and caused fires at several railway stations in Rostov.
In Voronezh, a Ukrainian strike hit a traction substation that powers the Zhuravka-Milervo line, a route built to bypass Ukrainian territory, and forced an automatic shutdown of a nearby nuclear reactor due to electrical instability.
Substations were also hit in Krasnodar and Bryansk, both of which are key to train traffic on the southern corridor.
