Russian military equipment is being actively destroyed not only at the front thanks to the successful work of Ukrainian soldiers, but also in the rear as a result of various inactions of the occupiers themselves. Since the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, the media has repeatedly reported on the enemy's losses in military equipment located far from the front line. This time, a similar incident surfaced that occurred at the Rostov base on September 4 last year. According to the public group of the Cheka-ODPU, soldiers set fire to a helicopter carrying paratrooper equipment and pyrotechnics while burning garbage. One of the occupiers, following the order of fire brigade officer Nikolai Novoselov, burned the garbage. However, the fire spread to dry grass, and then towards the helicopter. As a result, the helicopter burned down. The damage caused to the unit is estimated at 574 million rubles. The article notes that the burning of garbage was carried out under the conditions of a ban on lighting fires on the territory of the military base. Novoselov was found responsible for the incident. The court fined him 350,000 rubles and banned him from holding senior civil service positions for one year.
Earlier, the media reported that Russian soldiers were destroying their own equipment in the Kherson direction, and the number of deserters was increasing. A real example is the 24th Motorized Rifle Regiment of Russia. Due to the large number of “refusals” and those who voluntarily left their unit, the situation in the regiment is critical. This happened as a result of the cruel orders of the command, which led to large losses of the unit, and the soldiers were left in positions without electronic cover against Ukrainian drones.
Recall that Ukrainian fighters are teaching Russian soldiers to use their own equipment in a subversive way in order to profit from the war without endangering their lives.
About 4,000 Russian recruits registered on an “educational platform” created in September 2022. The organization, known as the “Atesh School,” advertised that its students had “mastered the art of breaking equipment and sabotaging orders.” “Students of the Atesh School know that there is no need to go to war if you can earn a good living in the rear, repairing your equipment and not risking your life,” one Telegram post said. On its website, the “school” describes itself as a “military partisan movement” operating in the territories of Ukraine controlled by Russian troops. It also claims to exist within Russia and that it was founded by Russian citizens and Crimean Tatars, an indigenous group from the annexed peninsula.
