ASL Matters in Emergencies

Charlie Kirk said that sign language interpreters on TV during emergencies are a distraction and suggested removing them, saying captions are enough. Deaf groups strongly disagreed and explained that ASL is very important for clear access. Later, he said he might rethink his idea. In my opinion, during an emergency it would be better to cut off the speaker’s voice and let people read the information instead.
