I just watched Liberal Hivemind’s video “UPDATE: SHE GOT EXPELLED.” about the student who reenacted Charlie Kirk’s assassination at a memorial event, and I’m totally in support of Texas State University’s decision. Mocking someone’s murder — especially in such a raw, public way — is not speech without consequence. Disrespecting violence, trivializing death — that crosses a line. This video was about preserving basic human decency, and I think the college did the right thing.

The video shows the student slapping his neck, pretending to be hit, collapsing — mocking the moment Kirk was shot.

Governor Abbott demanded immediate expulsion, stating that mocking an assassination must be met with action.

University President Kelly Damphousse confirmed the student is “no longer a student” at Texas State, backing the expulsion as consistent with university values.

Why I’m Supportive of the College & Critical of the Student:
Because decency matters. Mocking someone’s death, acting it out publicly, especially in a memorial setting — it’s cruel. Institutions spend years building values and standards; when someone breaches those in a way that glorifies violence, it’s only right to enforce consequences. I believe this isn't about shutting down speech — it's about not allowing cruelty and mockery to become normalized. The college had to act, and I respect that.
