Ebert & Roeper: 2-2-02
Roger Ebert and Richard Roeper reviews "Birthday Girl"; "Ozamu Tezuka's Metropolis" (Roeper is such a moron on this review, does he really had to be so annoying and clueless on his criticism about the style of Japanese Animation?!? At least, he learned his lesson once "Spirited Away" came out several months later. I'm glad Ebert praised it and sticking to his choice for everyone! This was and still is a truly stunning Sci-Fi Anime Cyberpunk thriller based on the manga from Ozamu Tezuka and Directed By: Rintaro. A story about a detective his sidekick searching for rebel scientist to arrest him and seize his latest creation of a beautiful young android girl. One of my first DVD purchase as a birthday gift when I turned 17 at the time and the film is spectacular!); "Storytelling"; "A Rumor of Angels" and "Slackers" (A raunchy comedy about three boys who are graduating from a local University honoring by lying, cheating and scheming that sat on the shelf for a while when Destination Films originally was going to be release in 2001. But due to their financial problems and Sony later reestablished as a niche label, Screen Gems release it instead. Interesting enough on another subject, "Metropolis" was one of the first films Destination was released co-produced with TriStar Pictures and Toho. Back to this, it stars Devon Sawa, Jason Segel, Jason Schwarzmann, Laura Prepon from "That '70s Show" and Michael C. Marona from "The Adventures of Pete & Pete" and "Home Alone".
And a look back at this year's "Sundance Film Festival" with a selection of several upcoming films. And a recap of Today's program.
Recorded on KATU ABC 2 in Portland, Oregon with Commercials intact.
