From Tokyo to London: Japan’s Jets Join NATO Skies
Japan has deployed its F-15J fighter jets to Europe for the first time in history. The “Atlantic Eagles” mission saw four F-15Js, supported by refuelers, transport aircraft, and 180 personnel, fly across the Pacific and Atlantic before landing at RAF Coningsby in the UK.
This historic deployment marks a turning point in Japan’s defense posture, demonstrating solidarity with NATO, strengthening Japan–UK defense ties, and underscoring that Euro-Atlantic and Indo-Pacific security are inseparable. The mission highlights growing cooperation with the RAF, German Luftwaffe, and U.S. Air Force, and builds on joint projects like the Global Combat Air Programme.
👉 Watch as Japan and the UK enter a “new golden age” of strategic partnership, with Japan projecting airpower across Eurasia for the very first time.
