In this episode, our heroes progress further towards Chaos' lair, encountering the likes of Cloud of Darkness, Kuja, and Ultimecia.

The title of this episode is taken from the boss theme for FFIX's Kuja, The Darkness of Eternity, also known as Dark Messenger, composed by the legendary Nobuo Uematsu.
While Kuja is not the final boss in FFIX, he represents FFIX's villain in Dissidia regardless, and this theme is what is played in the final encounter.
The other 2 tracks featured in the intro are FFIII's This is the Last Battle & FFVIII's The Extreme. They are their respective Final Fantasies (Cloud of Darkness & Ultimecia respectively) final boss themes, both also composed by Nobuo Uematsu.
