The 1st Minnesota Infantry Regiment at Gettysburg Oil Painting Part 1

Historical Artist Mark Maritato begins work on a large 40x30in oil on canvas painting that will depict 1st Minnesota as they made their momentous charge that stopped the assault of Cadmus Wilcox’s Alabama Brigade that threatened to split open the main Union defensive line on the second day of the battle. The 1st Minnesota lost 215 of 265 men within ten minutes but were successful in blinding the Confederate assault.
