Trump to take aim at ‘globalist institutions,’ make case for his foreign policy record in UN speech

President Donald Trump will address the United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday, highlighting his second-term foreign policy and criticizing “globalist institutions” for weakening the world order.

His return to the UN comes after months of reducing U.S. support for multilateral organizations, including withdrawing from the World Health Organization and the UN Human Rights Council.

Trump has ordered a review of U.S. involvement in hundreds of international bodies to ensure they align with his “America First” agenda.

Global leaders will watch closely as his speech takes place amid wars in Gaza, Ukraine, and Sudan, growing concerns over artificial intelligence, and uncertainty about U.S. engagement with the UN.

Trump has also sparked controversy by ordering airstrikes on Iranian nuclear facilities and on suspected drug-smuggling boats from Venezuela, actions that critics say amount to extrajudicial killings, the Associated Press has reported.

These strikes have fueled speculation he may be targeting Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro.
