Trump at the UN: “Empty words don’t stop wars, only action does”

In his latest speech before the United Nations General Assembly, President Donald Trump delivered sharp criticism of the international body’s effectiveness and stressed the urgent need for decisive action to end the conflicts that threaten world peace today.

Trump opened with an ironic tone, recounting that the only things he had received from the UN were “an escalator that stopped halfway up” and “a teleprompter that didn’t work.” However, he quickly shifted to a more serious message: he recalled that while facing those technical difficulties, he was “working to save millions of lives” through negotiations aimed at stopping wars.

The president underscored that the UN “was not there for us” during critical negotiation moments and questioned what the organization’s true purpose really is. While acknowledging that the institution has “tremendous potential,” he warned that it is far from fulfilling it, limiting itself to issuing letters with strong words that never translate into concrete results.

“The problem with the United Nations is that it sticks to empty words, and empty words don’t resolve war,” Trump declared. “The only thing that resolves war and wars is action.”

With this statement, the president sought to make clear that the challenge of the 21st century is not drafting communiqués or diplomatic speeches, but taking firm measures that guarantee peace, protect people, and put an end to prolonged conflicts that, in his view, could have been resolved long ago.

Trump’s intervention left a forceful message: the world needs less international bureaucracy and more practical determination to prevent new generations from growing up under the shadow of war.
