He didn't know how prophetic his words were.
The signal reached beings who saw it as a blueprint. From the DNA helix, they reconstructed the human nervous system, designing a signal to resonate with brains and DNA. After decades of tests, their response arrived in 2132.
White-blue lightning illuminated the sky above Warsaw, carrying impulses that penetrated human minds. Some lost free will, their eyes glowing, movements mechanical. This was no accident—it was Arecibo's answer.
In the Institute of Adaptive Neurobiology, Lena watched the storm. Plants in the lab pulsed with the lightning, as if nature synchronized with the signal. Her brother, Sebastian, urged escape, but Lena saw a symbol in the storm—communication.
