John 14:6 (NIV) says:

“Jesus answered, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.’”

Here’s what it really teaches:

1. Jesus is the only way to God

The verse emphasizes exclusivity — salvation and access to God the Father are found only through Jesus Christ. He is not one of many ways, but the way.

2. Jesus is the truth

He is the full revelation of God. His words, His life, His death, and His resurrection show us God’s character and plan. Unlike temporary or shifting human philosophies, His truth is absolute and eternal.

3. Jesus is the life

Eternal life is found in Him. Without Christ, people remain spiritually dead, but in Him they receive abundant life now and eternal life after death.

4. Faith in Jesus is necessary

This verse directly connects access to the Father with Jesus alone. It rejects the idea that good works, religion, or other paths can save. Only through believing in and following Christ can one have fellowship with God.

5. Comfort and assurance

Jesus spoke this during the Last Supper when His disciples were troubled about His departure. He assured them that even though He was leaving, they could be confident of their future with the Father because of their relationship with Him.

👉 In short: John 14:6 teaches that Jesus is the exclusive and complete way to God — He alone reveals the truth of God and gives eternal life to those who believe.
