Flint, MI — When Steve Brewer and his wife first learned their eldest son had autism, they were overwhelmed. Today, Brewer is the father of two non-verbal sons on the spectrum, and that life-changing experience inspired him to act.

Brewer founded the Autism Parent Support Network, a local group that helps families navigate the challenges of raising children with autism. His advocacy didn’t stop there — he went on to launch 810 Munchies, a restaurant designed to create a safe and welcoming space for people with special needs.

“There are many theories and possible links to autism, like food dyes and the environment,” Brewer said. Still, he stresses there’s no single cause.

“There’s no way that you can link just one direct thing to autism,” another speaker added.

Through his efforts, Brewer has built both a business and a community resource, turning his family’s challenges into hope and support for others.
