China: Super Typhoon Ragasa Makes Landfall, Ravages Hong Kong, Taiwan | Firstpost Spotlight | N18G

Super Typhoon Ragasa has made landfall along Hailing Island in Guangdong Province, China. The storm brought turbulent water rapids, rocky waves, intense rainfall, and violent winds that brought southern China to a standstill. The world’s most powerful cyclone this year also ravaged Hong Kong, forcing the authorities to issue the highest level of warning for its citizens. Chinese authorities ordered businesses and schools to remain shut in at least 10 cities. The typhoon also disrupted train and flight services, with hundreds of cancellations that left the passengers stranded. Before heading to Hong Kong, Ragasa also ravaged Taiwan, claiming at least 15 lives there and injuring at least 18 people. Earlier this week, Ragasa also trampled parts of the northern Philippines.
