White House Prepares for Mass Firings in Event of Government Shutdown

Typically government employees are furloughed in the event of a government shutdown. OMB Director Russ Vought put out a memo advising agencies to prepare for mass firings, instead of furloughs. This simultaneously puts pressure on Democrats to accept a clean CR and also provides an opportunity for slashing government bloat if the Democrats don’t play ball. It’s a win-win for the Trump administration whichever way this goes!
