(RAD: This is an excellent discussion that helps us better understand China's system and how it interacts with the systems of the West, especially the US. Major changes are happening throughout the world. China has spent decades building supply chains to support their many different manufacturing sectors. To think that the US can recreate this in a few years to bring back many of the manufacturing sectors that China already excels at is naïve. China has used multiple 5-year plans to identify where they want to go and what is necessary to get there. The US hasn't done this, which shows.

Before we waste a lot of effort on short term approaches, like tariffs & sanctions, maybe we should have national discussions about the directions we should pursue. What resources are needed? Don't forget needed STEM educational resources, which could take many years. In the business world, building a new company to directly take on the market leader is high risk and usually doesn't work. Right now, to try and compete directly with China where they are dominate in the world is not a good business decision, nor a good national objective, especially when we don't have the necessary supply chains and educational resources. — RAD)
