Reform and Transparency in ACIP

RFK JR: Regarding the changes in ACIP, this has been a long time coming. More than two decades ago, Congress investigated ACIP.

A government oversight committee found that, for example, in 2003, four out of the five people who added the rotavirus vaccine to the schedule had a direct financial interest in that vaccine. One of those individuals voted to include the rotavirus vaccine and later sold his rotavirus vaccine, which was under development, for $186 million. He said he had “won the lottery.”

That year, Congress stated that 97% of the people on ACIP had undisclosed conflicts. People have known about this for years. Probably the worst example of malicious malpractice has been adding all these new products to the schedule without conducting pre-authorization safety studies.

In 1986, there were 11 vaccines on the schedule. Today, a compliant child must receive between 69 and 92 vaccines in order to attend school in some states. And not a single one has been tested in a placebo-controlled trial prior to approval. And that is simply malpractice.

So, the people who were in charge of this are no longer there. And we are going to bring people onto the ACIP panel—not just any vaccinator. We are bringing in individuals who are credentialed scientists, highly qualified physicians, who are going to practice evidence-based medicine, who are going to be objective, and who are going to follow the science and make critical public health determinations for our children based on the best science.
