The Labour leader is facing a backlash from all sides including his own party over his proposals for digital ID cards.

The digital ID is supposed to be limited to adults seeking work, but supporters including Sir Tony Blair’s Institute believe it could be expanded into a “super-digital ID card” that could be used to access all public services from claiming benefits to reporting potholes.

COMMENT FROM UK RESIDENT:
Petition signed. The digital ID has way too many dangerous negatives. The whole country needs to stand together on this - it is dangerous - If the ID gets stolen the thief can take out numerous loans in your name leaving you in tens of thousands of pounds of debt. The thief also has access to your address, vehicle details etc so if they steal from you in Cornwall (example only) but your address is in Yorkshire - bingo! your house is likely to be empty. Open invitation almost. What about pensioners with early onset dementia? do you think they would understand why they cant get their pension as they dont have the new ID? Or those that are seriously ill, or disabled and bed bound - how do they get the ID? Would their benefits be stopped? Without any income they would become homeless or quite literally starve. Or those that are (trying to be pc here) slower mentally? But the illegals wont be affected - they will still work in a 'friends' barbers or car wash.
