On 09-24-25 at about 9:00 AM a Fairview Heights Police Officer pulled over a vehicle for having a license plate sticker that was expired for five years. The stop was on Old Collinsville Road about a quarter of a mile south of Frank Scott Parkway. The Fairview Heights Police vehicle was fully marked and had emergency lighting activated.

The officer began walking up to the vehicle, from the passenger side, when a Gray 2018 Chevrolet Camaro slammed into his squad car from behind. The crash was so hard it pushed the squad car into the vehicle in front of it and impaled them together.

The driver of the Camaro quickly exited and approached the officer who had his body camera activated. The driver admitted he had consumed alcohol and “weed gummies”. He then volunteered he purposely drove into the police vehicle because he does not like police officers.

Illinois State Police were called to the scene to conduct an impartial investigation into the incident that was captured all on video. The driver was arrested and transported to the county jail.
