At the UN General Debate on September 26, 2025, Zimbabwe’s Foreign Minister Amon Murwira called for a bold transformation of the global order. He stressed that the UN Security Council still reflects a post-WWII reality, excluding Africa from permanent membership. Citing the Ezulwini Consensus, he demanded two permanent seats for Africa with veto rights. Murwira highlighted challenges facing the Global South, from climate change and food insecurity in SADC to terrorism in the Lake Chad Basin. He also condemned sanctions on Zimbabwe and officially launched Zimbabwe’s bid for a non-permanent Security Council seat for 2027–2028. #UnitedNations #Zimbabwe #UNReform #AmonMurwira #AfricaVoice #GlobalSouth #SecurityCouncil #ClimateChange #FoodSecurity #SADC #Sanctions #Terrorism #LakeChad #EzulwiniConsensus #WorldPolitics
