How does Surah Yunus explain the signs of Allah in creation
Asslamoalaikqum Sisters, Brothers, Friends and elders :
We welcom to you in our series of Statements. And today's
is statement number 36. And we will be describe in this that: ( How does Surah Yunus explain the signs of Allah in creation ) So sisters, brothers friends and elders, Our aim is to learn and teach from the Quran and Sunnah, reflect on history, and seek solutions to problems with divine guidance. May Allah Almighty make our this statement beneficial and a source of light for all hearts.
Surah Yunus, the tenth chapter of the Holy Quran, is a Makkan surah consisting of one hundred and nine verses. It carries profound themes about faith, the Hereafter, and the message of Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him. One of its most striking features is how it highlights the signs of Allah in creation. These signs are meant to remind people of the power, wisdom, and mercy of Allah. By reflecting on them, believers can strengthen their faith and realize that none besides Allah deserves worship.
In the opening verses, Allah introduces the Quran as a book of wisdom and guidance. In Surah Yunus verse 5, Allah says: “It is He who made the sun a shining light and the moon a derived light and determined for it phases that you may know the number of years and account of time. Allah has not created this except in truth. He details the signs for a people who know.” This verse points to the sun and moon as clear signs of divine order. Their precise movements not only illuminate the world but also help mankind measure time. This balance in creation demonstrates the perfection of Allah’s design.
Surah Yunus also calls attention to the alternation of day and night as a sign of Allah’s wisdom. In verse 6, Allah says: “Indeed, in the alternation of the night and the day and in what Allah has created in the heavens and the earth are signs for a people who fear Allah.” The changing of day and night provides rest, work, and balance for human life. This system is not accidental but a deliberate arrangement that points to the oneness of Allah.
The Surah also mentions the cycle of life and death as a reminder of divine power. In verse 31, Allah commands the Prophet to ask: “Say, who provides for you from the heaven and the earth, or who controls hearing and sight and who brings the living out of the dead and brings the dead out of the living and who arranges every matter? They will say, Allah. So say, then will you not fear Him?” This verse highlights the miraculous processes of creation, such as birth, growth, and the return to death. These natural events are signs that Allah alone has full control over life.
Another powerful sign mentioned in Surah Yunus is the sea and its role in human life. In verse 22, Allah says: “It is He who enables you to travel on land and sea until, when you are in ships and they sail with them by a good wind and they rejoice therein, there comes a storm wind and the waves come upon them from everywhere and they assume they are surrounded, they supplicate Allah, sincere to Him in religion. If You should save us from this, we will surely be among the thankful.” This verse reflects human weakness and the realization of Allah’s power during times of crisis. The sea becomes a sign reminding mankind of their dependence on the Creator.
Surah Yunus also calls upon people to look at the heavens and the earth as sources of reflection. In verse 101, Allah says: “Say, look at what is in the heavens and the earth. But signs and warnings do not avail a people who do not believe.” The vastness of the skies, the stars, the planets, and the variety of life on earth all bear witness to Allah’s greatness. This verse teaches that belief must be coupled with reflection. Those who ignore these signs miss the truth that surrounds them daily.
The Quran emphasizes that these signs are not random but are created with a purpose. In verse 5, Allah declares that the sun and moon were made in truth, meaning with wisdom and purpose. Similarly, in verse 67, Allah says: “It is He who made for you the night to rest therein and the day giving sight. Indeed, in that are signs for a people who listen.” Rest at night and the ability to see during the day are blessings that point directly to Allah’s care for His creation.
The message of Surah Yunus about signs in creation is further supported by the sayings of the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him. In Sahih Bukhari, Hadith number 3190, the Prophet said: “The sun and the moon do not eclipse because of the death or the life of anyone, but they are two signs among the signs of Allah. When you see them, stand up and pray.” This hadith reinforces the Quranic teaching that celestial events are not accidents or superstitions but signs to remind mankind of the greatness of Allah.
Another important point made in Surah Yunus is that the signs of creation are a call to worship Allah alone. Despite admitting that Allah is the Creator, many people of Makkah still worshipped idols. Surah Yunus challenges this contradiction. Verse 66 says: “Unquestionably, to Allah belongs whoever is in the heavens and whoever is on the earth. And those who invoke other than Allah do not follow any partners. They follow not except assumption and they only guess.” This verse connects the signs of creation with Tawheed, teaching that the One who owns everything in the heavens and earth is the only One worthy of worship.
In conclusion, Surah Yunus explains the signs of Allah in creation through examples such as the sun, the moon, the alternation of night and day, the seas, and the cycle of life and death. Each sign points to divine wisdom, power, and mercy. These signs are not only for observation but for reflection and guidance, so that mankind can recognize the oneness of Allah and submit to Him alone. The Surah makes clear that ignoring these signs leads to disbelief, while acknowledging them with faith leads to gratitude and success. The message of Surah Yunus remains timeless, urging us to see the world around us as a continuous reminder of our Creator and to strengthen our connection with Him.
We conclude today's discourse with our this humble supplication: O Allah, purify our hearts, accept our deeds, forgive our sins, and include us among Your grateful servants. Amen
