The Great I AM

The glory of the Gospel is that the I AM does not merely reveal information. He gives Himself. The God who spoke from the thorn bush chose another thorn and wore it on His brow. The One who cannot die took flesh so He could enter death and break it from the inside. The Judge became the Lamb and the Mercy Seat. The Angel of the Presence became the High Priest and the Temple. The Rock was struck and living water flowed. The Passover Lord became the Passover. When He cried It is finished the veil tore because the distance was over. The distance between a holy God and a guilty people was bridged not by human ladders but by a Person who is both God and Man. This is why the apostles preach Jesus not as a brilliant teacher added to a pantheon of spiritual options but as the very Lord of glory. This is why the seer beholds Him and hears I am the First and the Last, the Living One, I was dead and behold I am alive forevermore, and the titles once reserved for the God of Israel are placed on the head of the Lamb. Heaven is not confused when it worships Him. Heaven recognizes the Name.
