Yamal is a Soviet and Russian nuclear icebreaker of Project 10521, developed from Project 10520 Arktika. Laid down on October 31, 1986, launched on October 4, 1989. Originally named Oktyabrskaya Revolyutsiya, it was renamed Yamal in 1992. It entered service on October 27, 1992. In 2000, the icebreaker made an expedition to the North Pole to meet the third millennium. Yamal is the seventh ship to reach the North Pole. It has made a total of 46 voyages there.

In August 2025, Marina Starovoitova, who previously served as senior assistant captain of the Yamal, became captain of the icebreaker. She is the first woman in the world to captain a nuclear-powered icebreaker.
