My NES Collection 004 - Dragon Warrior

Not only this is one of the first RPG Console games but it's the greatest RPG Game of all time. Dragon Warrior was released in the U.S. in 1989 and in Japan in 1986 as Dragon Quest. If you see my Japanese video game series, you probably already saw this one.

You are on a quest to rescue a princess who got kidnapped by an evil green dragon and have to find the legendary 3 items of Erdrick to defeat the evil Dragonlord. You fight various enemies to gain experience points and gold to get stronger and learn new magic spells.

You can talk to people in towns to gather information, buy weapons, armor and tools at the shops, even rest at the Inn to regain full HP and MP. You explore a big world can enter castles, caves and towns. It is time consuming at first because it took me over 30 minutes just to get the ball rolling.

That is what you mostly do in this game which is level grinding and trying to buy more powerful weapons and armor to stand a chance against some of the stronger monsters. But at least Eun-Ji and I made it pretty far into the game and we reached level 6 before we even got to Erdricks Cave.

This game does have a high replay value, and this game is definingly worth playing when you have the time and patience. One other thing I want to mention is that when you save your game and when you're done playing you have to hold the Reset Button on the NES before turning it off.

Luckly our adventure was saved before my NES started reseting itself and when I got it working again our adventure log was still there which is good.
