The genre-defining masterpiece Resident Evil 2 returns, completely rebuilt from the ground up for a deeper narrative experience. Using Capcom’s proprietary RE Engine, Resident Evil 2 offers a fresh take on the classic survival horror saga with breathtakingly realistic visuals, heart-pounding immersive audio, a new over-the-shoulder camera, and modernized controls on top of gameplay modes from the original game.

In Resident Evil 2, the classic action, tense exploration, and puzzle solving gameplay that defined the Resident Evil series returns. Players join rookie police officer Leon Kennedy and college student Claire Redfield, who are thrust together by a disastrous outbreak in Raccoon City that transformed its population into deadly zombies. Both Leon and Claire have their own separate playable campaigns, allowing players to see the story from both characters’ perspectives. The fate of these two fan favorite characters is in players hands as they work together to survive and get to the bottom of what is behind the terrifying attack on the city. Will they make it out alive?

Claire's Story (Second Run):

Police Station:

Claire enters the RPD through a side entrance, immediately noticing tougher zombie encounters, scarce ammo, Mr. X encounters right away, and altered puzzle solutions compared to Leon’s path. Using the Bolt Cutters, she opens chained-off areas, unlocking the Art Room, Darkroom, and Safety Deposit Room for upgrades and the GM 79 Grenade Launcher. After solving the Goddess Statue puzzle with the three medallions, Claire descends into the Underground Facility. The looming threat of Raccoon City’s collapse grows clearer as she presses forward, determined to find survivors—and her brother, Chris.

Underground Facility:

Claire pushes deeper into the darkened corridors until a blocked path triggers her first encounter with the mutated William Birkin (G Stage 1). In a frantic arena battle, she must dodge his massive claw swings and focus fire on his grotesque eye, using grenades and the Grenade Launcher to wear him down. After finally bringing him to his knees, Claire stumbles onward and finds a frightened young girl, Sherry Birkin, who timidly agrees to help her progress. The bond between the two begins here, setting up Claire’s protective role as they climb toward the Parking Garage and into greater danger.

Parking Garage & Chief Irons' Office:

In the Parking Garage, just as escape seems near, Claire and Sherry are ambushed by the corrupt Chief Brian Irons, who takes Sherry captive. The emotional cutscenes reveal Irons’s obsession with Umbrella and his cruelty toward Sherry, forcing Claire back through the Police Station in a desperate attempt to rescue her new companion. Claire searches the garage for a key card to escape, pushing her into the Kennels, Morgue, and Firing Range to recover the Diamond Key, which leads to a hidden passage into the Police Station through the Chief’s private office. There, she uncovers disturbing evidence of his corruption and his ties to Umbrella, along with access to the Heart Key and new routes through the station. As she pushes deeper into these sealed-off areas, Claire begins to realize just how far Irons will go to keep Sherry under his control while Mr. X continues his relentless pursuit through the station’s halls.
