Too Many Keys🔑🤯, Not Enough Sense! Testing Out This Mess of Locks 🔒🏠

Headed to a property today to figure out the mess of keys and locks left behind by the homeowners.

It was chaos:

Some doors had multiple keys.

Other doors had no working keys at all.

I spent time testing combinations just to figure out which keys actually matched which locks.

This is beyond frustrating — not just for me as a property manager, but especially for the tenants who will be moving in. No one wants to juggle a giant keyring or guess which key works for what door.

💡 Why this matters in property management:

Too many keys = too much confusion. Tenants expect smooth, simple access.

Missing keys can delay move-ins and create liability issues.

Rekeying and simplifying the system ensures security, professionalism, and peace of mind.

👉 It’s the little details like this that separate good management from sloppy management. When tenants move in, they should have clear, working, simple access. And that means me doing the legwork now to fix the mess.
