Why Do I Feel Lonely in My Marriage?

Some of the loneliest moments in life can come when you’re sitting right beside the person you married. You may find yourself asking, Where is God in this? Has He left me too?

Your ultimate source of peace, joy, and security cannot come from your spouse. When we attach our happiness to their words, actions, or attention, we set ourselves up for disappointment. But when we anchor ourselves in God—when we look inward and ask, What do I need to repair in my relationship with Him?—that’s when we find the unshakable peace we’ve been longing for.

Your marriage will be at its strongest when you no longer expect your spouse to carry the weight of being your source of happiness, but instead allow God to fill that role. From that foundation, you can love more freely, forgive more fully, and experience deeper connection.

That’s the journey I walk couples through in Marriage in Bloom, my six-month marriage intensive. Because healing a marriage begins with healing our hearts before God.
