Stealing Poetry
[Verse 1]
In a world so bright, yet so dim with screens,
Scrolling through a maze of fleeting dreams.
Talented borrows, the echo of thought,
But genius appropriates what others have sought.
Clickbait glimmers like a shiny lure,
Promises of wisdom, but they’re never pure.
A poem waits, just a click away,
But every link leads further astray.
[Chorus]
We’re chasing shadows, running in place,
Searching for beauty, lost in the race.
Ten lines and ten clicks, what’s the cost?
In the end, it feels like we’ve all just lost.
So I give up and turn to the shelf,
For verses that whisper, the heart of myself.
[Verse 2]
It’s a digital chase through a forest of ads,
Where wisdom is masked, and patience is bad.
Each headline shouts, “You won’t believe!”,
But the deeper I dig, the less I receive.
Where’s the truth in this tangled web?
Where’s the pulse of art, the human ebb?
All these links lead to nowhere, a spiral of pain,
I’ll take a good book over this digital bane.
[Chorus]
We’re chasing shadows, running in place,
Searching for beauty, lost in the race.
Ten lines and ten clicks, what’s the cost?
In the end, it feels like we’ve all just lost.
So I give up and turn to the shelf,
For verses that whisper, the heart of myself.
[Bridge]
A soft-spoken stanza, a line that feels right,
Found in the quiet of a well-lit night.
Instead of chasing, I’ll let it flow,
The beauty of words, I’ll let it grow.
From the pages I hold, their echoes remain,
In the silence, there’s laughter, even in pain.
In the art of the poets, I find my reprieve,
Not in clicks but in lines that I believe.
[Chorus]
We’re chasing shadows, running in place,
Searching for beauty, lost in the race.
Ten lines and ten clicks, what’s the cost?
In the end, it feels like we’ve all just lost.
So I give up and turn to the shelf,
For verses that whisper, the heart of myself.
[Outro]
So take down the screens, let’s breathe some real air,
The world’s filled with wonders that are waiting to share.
No more clicks leading to dead-end roads,
In the pages of poetry, let my heart unload.
Talented borrows, genius stands tall,
But in the realm of raw words, we find it all.
