534 Gospel of Matthew Chapter 16

Did Jesus give the keys of the kingdom to Peter, all the Apostles or to all Christians? What do these references to binding and loosing mean? Does the fact that they we at Caesarea Philippi, where there is a large rock outcropping (Petra in Greek) and a cave in that outcropping called "the gates of hell/hades" influence how we understand what Jesus was saying?
