The Book of 1 Corinthians Chapter 14

Prophecy and Tongues

In 1 Corinthians 14, Paul encourages the church to pursue love and to earnestly desire the spiritual gifts, especially prophecy. He contrasts the gift of tongues and the gift of prophecy, explaining that prophecy is more beneficial in the church because it edifies, exhorts, and comforts others.

He also gives instructions for orderly worship, stating that if someone speaks in a tongue, there must be an interpretation. He emphasizes that everything should be done for edification, decently, and in order.
