I’ve been watching his lectures on geopolitics. As a Muslim revert, I find that I connect most with his content when he discusses Islam. He already has a lecture on the Islamic Golden Age, but this new one highlights why Islam is an intellectual religion. Watching it reminded me of the Qur’an itself. If you really dive deep, it’s a miracle how perfectly it has been preserved for mankind. Even from an academic perspective, Islam stands out as straightforward and true.

The weaknesses to me show that Islam actually makes even more sense as a moral code and truth of existence than anything else.

1. It being extremely simple and clear shows it will not be elitist and can be understood by every man. Smart or dumb

2. It being inflexible and unchanging is exactly what an ultimate truth of existence should be! 2 + 2 will always equal 4 until the end of time. God being one and the Quran being his eternal word will always ring true according to Islam and therefore the existential truth never changes. This makes sense for universal truth then.

3. It being inflexible to new interpretations and innovations shows justice. The generations of humans before you must follow the same moral code as you. And the ones after you as well. This is perfect justice because everyone will be tried according to the same rules then. No one has it easier or harder. If someone commits a crime and gets locked up for 30 years, and then when they come out they realize the crime the committed is no longer considered a crime, they lost 30 years of their life for something that is ok to do now! This is not perfect justice. Morality remains unchanged because human nature remains unchanged.

Finally, I love the professor’s videos and share them with my friends as well. I’ve learned so much from him he is very knowledgeable. But one thing that is not true is in Islam God is everywhere. The Quran and the Prophet (pbuh) affirmed that God exists beyond space and time, above the seven heavens, on top of his throne. No man has ever seen the face of God. Including the Prophet (pbuh).

However, we do not believe that Allah is physically inside us or inside any of His creation. Allah is exalted above His creation and is not contained by time or space.

The statement “God is everywhere” can be misleading. Islam teaches that Allah is All-Knowing, All-Hearing, and All-Seeing — nothing escapes His knowledge — but He is not physically present in everything. According to the Qur’an and the understanding of the Prophet ﷺ and his companions, Allah is above the heavens, established over His Throne in a manner that befits His Majesty, and yet He is close to His servants through His knowledge and mercy.
