Hajwala

Hajwala drift culture, originating in the Gulf region—particularly the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia—is an underground street-driving style characterized by extreme, high-speed swerving maneuvers performed on public highways.

Unlike professional drifting, which relies on controlled oversteer in closed circuits, Hajwala emphasizes dangerous, exaggerated lane-to-lane swings at speeds often exceeding 200 km/h, with drivers sometimes releasing the steering wheel entirely.

Cars commonly used include modified Toyota Camrys, Nissan Patrols, and Lexus sedans, stripped of weight or fitted with altered suspension and engines to maximize speed and maneuverability.

The culture gained notoriety in the 1990s and 2000s through viral videos showcasing crashes and daring stunts, and it has since been incorporated into regional video games like Hajwala Drift.
