Participants, including prominent figures and everyday advocates, risk interception by Israeli forces to spotlight global complicity in the blockade and demand safe passage for aid. This mission not only seeks to provide immediate relief but also amplifies calls for justice, an end to the siege, and broader international action to support Palestinian rights and self-determination.

As of September 30, 2025, the Global Sumud Flotilla is nearing the Gaza coast, approximately 18.5 kilometers (about 10 nautical miles) from the high-risk zone where previous aid convoys have been intercepted. Crews are on high alert amid reports of increased drone activity and nearby Israeli vessels, though the alert level has been lowered with an interception deemed unlikely tonight. Live trackers and streams show the fleet sailing in close formation, less than 150 nautical miles from Gaza, as global supporters mobilize for safe passage.
