The genre-defining masterpiece Resident Evil 2 returns, completely rebuilt from the ground up for a deeper narrative experience. Using Capcom’s proprietary RE Engine, Resident Evil 2 offers a fresh take on the classic survival horror saga with breathtakingly realistic visuals, heart-pounding immersive audio, a new over-the-shoulder camera, and modernized controls on top of gameplay modes from the original game.

In Resident Evil 2, the classic action, tense exploration, and puzzle solving gameplay that defined the Resident Evil series returns. Players join rookie police officer Leon Kennedy and college student Claire Redfield, who are thrust together by a disastrous outbreak in Raccoon City that transformed its population into deadly zombies. Both Leon and Claire have their own separate playable campaigns, allowing players to see the story from both characters’ perspectives. The fate of these two fan favorite characters is in players hands as they work together to survive and get to the bottom of what is behind the terrifying attack on the city. Will they make it out alive?

Claire and Sherry arrive at the NEST Laboratory, where Claire leaves Sherry to rest before exploring the dark facility. She scavenges an ID wristband from a fallen researcher and fights through zombified staff to restore power, uncovering the grim truth behind Umbrella’s G-Virus experiments. In the Greenhouse, Claire battles Ivy Zombies and creates a herbicidal solution to destroy Plant 43, granting access to the West Area. There, she learns of William Birkin’s transformation and faces him in a brutal fight, defeating the creature and retrieving the antiviral agent to save Sherry.

As the lab begins to self-destruct, Claire reunites with Sherry as Annette succumbs to her injuries and the duo rushes to the escape train where they meet Leon, alive and still fighting to survive. Together, the trio works to restart the train and flee the collapsing facility, only to be attacked one last time by Birkin’s final mutation. Claire uses the minigun to destroy him for good, severing the infected car as the train speeds toward safety. With Raccoon City burning behind them, Claire, Leon, and Sherry finally emerge into the morning light—free at last from the horrors beneath the city.

The Fourth Survivor (First Attempt):

The Fourth Survivor mode follows HUNK, the lone surviving member of Umbrella’s elite U.S.S. team, as he attempts to escape Raccoon City’s sewers after retrieving a G-Virus sample from William Birkin. Armed with limited supplies, HUNK must battle through relentless hordes of zombies, Lickers, and Tyrants on his way to the Raccoon City Police Station’s surface. The mode is a fast-paced, punishing survival challenge that showcases HUNK’s cold efficiency and cements his reputation as the “Grim Reaper” of the Umbrella Security Service.
