Harvest Time

Harvest Time is an exhilarating whirlwind of activity! This week has been a blur from sunrise to sunset, with even a few tasks tackled under the cover of night.

As the forecast hints at frost arriving by Monday, I scrambled to gather the last of my tomatoes and other vegetables, always leaving the beans for last. They add a delightful touch to my winter soups!

With so many plants to move indoors, I’m preparing for a year filled with fresh herbs and vibrant flowers, brightening my home even in the cold months.

I also took on the challenge of pruning tree limbs that had grown too high for comfort, ensuring they wouldn't pose a risk to the hydro lines during storms. I filled three wheelbarrows with branches and made a trip to the town disposal site just a few blocks away.

Despite the busy days, my harvest has been bountiful, and every little bit helps keep the pantry stocked. I’ve even had the joy of sharing my abundance with friends! There’s still much to do, but the pressure is easing, and gratitude fills my heart.

As Ecclesiastes 3:1 reminds us, “To everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven.” Let’s embrace this season of harvest and all the blessings it brings!
