Female Protester Maced in Face at Portland ICE Demonstration

On October 2, 2025, amid escalating nightly demonstrations outside the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility in South Portland, Oregon, protesters were pepper-sprayed point-blank in the face by a federal agent.

The woman identified by witnesses as Leilani Payne, standing with activist Finnegan Greene near the facility's entrance on South Macadam Avenue. The pair verbally confronted shielded agents during a shift change, yelling demands to "free the families." Without warning, an agent deployed mace directly into Greene and Payne's face.
