Protesters in Tbilisi have tried to storm the presidential residence, breaking through iron barriers.

Police used pepper spray to disperse the crowd, a TV report says.

Earlier in the day, opposition protesters marched in Tbilisi in what they said would be a "peaceful revolution" on the day of the local government elections.
