They Lied to Every Pickering Resident — Here’s the Proof

75 Towers. One Mayor. Zero Truth.

Mayor Kevin Ashe (Then Regional/Deputy Mayor) told residents there were no 75 towers planned for our city. He mocked you, called it “fearmongering,” and even joked about “flying unicorns.” But the truth is written in the City’s own files: 57 towers along Kingston Road, and well over 75 once the City Centre is added — closer to 80 by his own admission.

While the Mayor laughs, Councillor's Pickles, Butt, Brenner, Nagy, and Cook sit silent as developers prepare to bulldoze the very plazas that keep our community alive. Home Depot, Walmart, Staples, the Fitness Centre, LCBOs — all on the chopping block. With them go hundreds of local jobs, part-time student jobs, and small family businesses that have supported Pickering for decades.

And it doesn’t stop there. On October 28, 2024, Council even passed a motion to explore putting schools inside the bottom floors of condo towers — a proposal that would leave kids with no real playgrounds, no green space, and no safe outdoor area. Councillor Nagy celebrated the idea, while Brenner, Butt, Pickles, and Cook went along with it. It’s not finalized yet, but make no mistake — they are pushing for it.

Meanwhile, our city is already struggling. Fire and police services are stretched thin. Condo fire protocols require more trucks, more firefighters, and more time — forcing us to rely on neighbouring municipalities for backup and leaving their residents vulnerable when multiple incidents happen at once. Our roads are gridlocked, our sewers are nearing capacity, and we live next to a nuclear power plant. If an emergency happened today, how would upwards of 160,000 people evacuate when Kingston and Brock are already parking lots?

This isn’t progress. It’s chaos by design.

Watch as I expose the planning reports, the motions, the hypocrisy, and the lies. See for yourself what’s at risk of being bulldozed — and why I was the only Councillor who voted no.

Because this isn’t about building community. It’s about building a political legacy on your back.
Pickering deserves honesty. Pickering deserves accountability. Pickering deserves better.
