The Smoldering Saint was an unnamed martyr who was burned at the stake for his faith during widespread persecution of the faithful. He remained alive, praising God through the whole process, even while his body was smoldering. When the flames died down, he, with his body like glowing coals, pointed to his killers and said "you have done a wicked thing! Yet even now, repent and The Divine will hear you and welcome you to his breast!" Then he prayed for his killers and collapsed to ash. Relics of this event reside in a great cathedral and his Reliquary is tended by monks of the adjoined monastery.
